Best fixed asset software for mid-size organizations: NetSuite and Sage alternatives compared.
The short answer: your ERP decides most of this. On NetSuite or Sage Intacct, look at their built-in fixed asset modules first. Running your fixed assets in spreadsheets or a standalone tool, across more than one entity? Then the real choice is between Sage Fixed Assets, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, and Bricks Assets.
A note on who wrote this. Bricks makes Bricks Assets, one of the five products below. We kept every other entry to what that vendor says about its own product. We also tell you where Bricks is the wrong pick.
How we compared them.
- 01Depreciation books.
Can it keep Book, Tax, AMT, and State side by side, with MACRS, Section 179, and bonus depreciation?
- 02ERP and GL fit.
Is it a module inside your ERP, or a separate tool? How does the monthly depreciation entry reach your general ledger?
- 03Cloud use.
Does it run in a browser, so your controller and your CPA see the same register?
- 04Price you can see.
Is the price published, or do you need a sales call to learn it?
The comparison at a glance.

1
Bricks Assets
Best for: controllers and accountants running several entities, who keep fixed assets outside the ERP today.
One register holds every book: Book, Tax, AMT, and State. At month end you pick the period and generate the depreciation entry. It balances, and it matches your GL accounts.
Switching starts from a file you already have. Send a Sage or Bloomberg Tax export, a spreadsheet, or any CSV. The AI maps the columns and proposes each asset’s method and useful life, with its reasoning shown. Nothing posts until you approve it.
Methods: straight-line, MACRS 200DB and 150DB (half-year, mid-quarter, mid-month), Section 179, bonus depreciation, and Canadian CCA. Reports export to PDF, Excel, and CSV.
Price: $600 per user, per year. 5,000 assets included, unlimited entities, no per-asset fee. You can start free without a sales call.
Where Bricks is the wrong pick today: if you need a direct QuickBooks or Sage Intacct connection right now. Those are on our roadmap; today you export a file. Bricks also does not produce IRS Forms 4562 or 4797. It gives your CPA the numbers to fill them in.
2
NetSuite Fixed Assets Management
Best for: companies already running NetSuite ERP.
This is a module inside NetSuite. Assets, depreciation, and the general ledger live in one system, with support for multiple subsidiaries. If you are on NetSuite and its fixed asset module does what you need, stay there. Moving assets out of your ERP only makes sense if the module is not keeping up.
Price: quoted as part of NetSuite.
3
Sage Fixed Assets
Best for: teams that need a very wide set of depreciation methods, or physical inventory and barcode tools.
Sage Fixed Assets has been in this category for more than 20 years. It supports 50+ depreciation methods and connects to ERPs including Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, and SAP.
Price: by quote from Sage. Weighing a move off Sage? Read the Sage Fixed Assets alternative.
4
Sage Intacct Fixed Assets
Best for: companies already running Sage Intacct.
Sage added a fixed asset module to its Intacct cloud ERP. Like NetSuite’s, it keeps assets inside the same system as your multi-entity books.
Price: quoted as part of Sage Intacct.
5
Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets (formerly BNA)
Best for: tax-first teams and CPA firms managing many client portfolios.
Bloomberg Tax built its fixed asset product around tax depreciation, with automatic updates when tax law changes. It is well established with accounting firms and connects to Workday and Microsoft Dynamics.
Price: by quote from Bloomberg Tax. Weighing a move off BNA? Read the Bloomberg BNA alternative.
Three questions to ask any vendor.
- 01Does my register come over as-is, or do I rebuild it by hand?
Ask them to load last year’s export in the demo, not a sample file.
- 02Do Book, Tax, AMT, and State reconcile in one place?
Ask to see all four books for the same asset, side by side.
- 03How does the monthly entry reach my GL?
Ask them to generate a real month-end entry and show you where it goes.
Common questions.
- 01What is the best fixed asset software for a mid-size company?
It depends on your ERP. If you run NetSuite or Sage Intacct, start with that system’s own fixed asset module. If your fixed assets live in spreadsheets or a standalone tool, compare Sage Fixed Assets, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, and Bricks Assets on three things: how many books you keep, how many entities you run, and how the monthly depreciation entry gets into your general ledger.
- 02What is an alternative to NetSuite for fixed asset management?
NetSuite Fixed Assets Management is a module inside NetSuite ERP. Teams that are not on NetSuite, or that keep fixed assets separate from their ERP, use a standalone tool such as Sage Fixed Assets, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, or Bricks Assets.
- 03What is an alternative to Sage Fixed Assets?
Common alternatives are Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, NetSuite Fixed Assets Management (for NetSuite customers), Sage Intacct Fixed Assets (for Intacct customers), and Bricks Assets. Bricks imports a Sage Fixed Assets export directly, so your asset history comes with you.
- 04Does fixed asset software work with QuickBooks?
Some tools connect directly; others export. Bricks Assets exports CSV, Excel, and PDF files that match your GL structure today. A direct QuickBooks integration is on the Bricks roadmap.
- 05How much does fixed asset software cost?
Bricks Assets is $600 per user, per year, with 5,000 assets included, unlimited entities, and no per-asset fee. NetSuite and Sage Intacct price their fixed asset modules as part of an ERP quote. Sage Fixed Assets and Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets are priced by quote.
Bring last year’s export. We’ll run it on four books.
You see your own assets on Book, Tax, AMT, and State, and a month-end journal entry built from them.
